So, I was awoken from a nap today by a series of IMs. The noise from the IMs was rude; it battered around in my head and I couldn’t possibly get back to sleep. So I got up to look at the IMs, which happened to be from Lauren, and happened to be amusing. BUT WHAT IF THEY WEREN’T?

I realized: I don’t need a sound every time I send an IM. I know I sent it, no sound is necessary. I don’t need a sound if an IM window is selected: I’m looking at the window, I don’t need an audio cue. I only need a sound if I recieved an IM when the window isn’t selected, and even when that happens, it should be the sort of sound I can both take as a cue or easily ignore if I’d like to.

So, I found a nice, soft chime.

Another day, another way to make technology more agreeable.
